Mayor Signs Proclamation for FBLA Week, Kicking Off Exciting Activities By Karla Ludemann The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter is gearing up for an exciting week of events after the mayor Nick Trandahl officially signs a proclamation recognizing February 9-15 as FBLA Week. Brodie Kelly the Upton FBLA President watches as this special recognition highlights the organizations dedication to leadership, business education, and community service. Throughout the week, FBLA members will participate in various activities designed to promote career readiness, teamwork, and service. Events will include workshops, guest speakers, community service projects, and fun competitions that engage students in real-world business scenarios. We are thrilled to have the mayor support in recognizing the impact of FBLA, said Chapter President Brodie Kelly. This week is a great opportunity for our members to showcase their skills and inspire others to get involved. FBLA Week not only celebrates the achievements of current members but also encourages future business leaders to explore the opportunities the organization offers. The chapter invites students, teachers, and community members to join in the festivities and support the mission of preparing young people for success in the business world.

In an impressive display of innovation and teamwork, the Upton High School robotics team advanced to the finals and secured 10th place out of 22 teams on February 1st at the VEX V5 Robotics Competition in Gillette, Wyoming. The event, held at the Thunder Basin High School, showcased the talents of young engineers Brendan Sanderson and Kit Charlson with other teams across the region. The Upton team demonstrated exceptional technical expertise and adaptability, overcoming challenges and fine-tuning their robot throughout the event. Their performance highlighted their dedication and the countless hours invested in preparation. The competition featured a series of challenges designed to test the robots capabilities in areas such as design, programming, and strategic execution. Teams were evaluated on their robots performance in various tasks, as well as their engineering notebooks and presentations. Advancing to the finals and achieving a top-ten finish is a significant accomplishment for the Upton team, reflecting their hard work and commitment to excellence in robotics. Their success serves as an inspiration to their peers and underscores the importance of STEM education in today’s world. The Upton school celebrates this achievement and looks forward to supporting the team’s future endeavors at Spearfish, South Dakota on February 15 for another robotics competitions.

Upton Robotics Plan to Compete in High-Stakes VEX Robotics Event in Gillette Saturday Upton High School’s robotics team will travel to Thunder Basin High School to compete in a high-stakes VEX Robotics competition, showcasing their engineering skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities against top teams from the region. The competition will challenge students to design, build, and program robots capable of completing complex tasks in a fast-paced, head-to-head format. Upton’s team will demonstrate technical expertise and adaptability, overcoming challenges and fine-tuning their robot throughout the event. The team will show performances in autonomous programming, driver control, and strategic gameplay, Their dedication to STEM and innovation continues to push the boundaries of what is possible, and they look forward to this challenge.

The high girls and boys JV games scheduled for tonight have been moved to Thursday, January 23rd at 4:30/6:00. The boys JV game against Wright that was scheduled for January 23rd, will now be played on Monday, February 3rd at 6:00.
