See Me Teach CTE By Karla Ludemann Twenty-two students, including Upton High School student Kelly Cork was nominated by her CTE teacher, Karla Ludemann as a potential future CTE teachers. Kelly has been honored with a nomination for the prestigious “See Me Teach CTE” program, recognizing her outstanding dedication and excellence in Career and Technical Education. The See Me Teach CTE program is designed to recognize and support outstanding students who aspire to become Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers. It highlights individuals who demonstrate a passion for CTE fields, leadership in their programs, and a commitment to shaping the future of technical education. Through this program, nominated students receive opportunities for mentorship, professional development, and exposure to the teaching profession, helping to build the next generation of CTE educators.

Esports is Off and Running for the Spring Season with PlayVS By Coach Karla Ludemann The spring season of high school esports is officially underway, with teams across the country competing through PlayVS, the leading platform for scholastic esports. As students sharpen their skills and teamwork, this season promises intense competition, thrilling matchups, and new opportunities for players to showcase their talent. Esports has exploded in popularity at the high school level, providing students with an avenue to compete, develop leadership skills, and even earn scholarships for college programs. PlayVS, the official esports provider for NFHS (National Federation of State High School Associations), has played a pivotal role in organizing structured, state-sanctioned competitions across a variety of popular titles. This season, teams are battling it out in games such as Chess on Tuesdays, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate on Wednesdays and Fortnite on Thursdays. For many students, the PlayVS season is more than just competitions a pathway to college scholarships and future careers in gaming, broadcasting, and game development. Many universities now offer esports scholarships, and high school players who perform well in the PlayVS leagues have a chance to get noticed. With the spring season now in full swing, players and teams are gearing up for regional and national championships. As esports continues to grow, PlayVS remains at the forefront, ensuring students have access to competitive, structured, and rewarding opportunities in gaming. Congratulations to the Upton Lady Cats on winning the first Northeast Middle School Girls Wrestling Championship!

Upton Schools will start at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 18, and Wednesday, February 19. Buses will run accordingly. Breakfast will not be served. The Weston County Children's Center will be closed both days as well.

If you are interested in pre-ordering regional shirts, they need to be ordered by February 19th. This will guarantee your order is here on February 27th. Park Bench Apparel will be at the High School that day to deliver shirts. There will also be a chance to buy shirts on site that day, but sizing and color choice could be limited. Upton Robotics Competes at Spearfish VEX Robotics Competition The Upton Robotics team recently competed at the Spearfish VEX Robotics Competition, where they faced off against 21 other teams in an intense day of engineering, strategy, and teamwork. The event showcased some of the best robotics talent in the region, with teams designing and programming their robots to complete various challenges.

Haven Vrana, Jackson East, Landon Norman, and Trey Schneider won championships at the Powder River Conference Duals on Thursday. Trey Schneider was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. Upton was also named conference coaching staff of the year. Congratulations to Coaches McCoy, Schlatter, Schneider, Johnson, and Pillen. Great job, Bobcats!

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Officers Advocate for Career and Technical Education at the Capitol By Karla Ludemann In celebration of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, FBLA state officers gathered at the Wyoming Capitol on February 10th to advocate for the importance of CTE programs in preparing students for successful careers. Representing Future Business Leaders of America, these student leaders met with legislators, shared their experiences, and highlighted the impact of CTE on workforce development. During their visit, the officers engaged in discussions with state officials about the role of CTE in bridging the gap between education and industry needs. They emphasized how organizations like FBLA provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, leadership development, and real-world business skills. Many officers shared personal stories of how CTE courses and FBLA have shaped their career aspirations and given them valuable experience in entrepreneurship, finance, and technology. The day also included recognition of CTE educators and industry partners who support these programs. State officers expressed their appreciation for the continued investment in career-focused education and encouraged lawmakers to expand funding and resources for CTE initiatives. By advocating at the Capitol, FBLA state officers reinforced the importance of empowering students through career and technical education. Their efforts contribute to a stronger, more skilled workforce, ensuring that students are prepared for the future. Mayor Signs Proclamation for FBLA Week, Kicking Off Exciting Activities By Karla Ludemann The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter is gearing up for an exciting week of events after the mayor Nick Trandahl officially signs a proclamation recognizing February 9-15 as FBLA Week. Brodie Kelly the Upton FBLA President watches as this special recognition highlights the organizations dedication to leadership, business education, and community service. Throughout the week, FBLA members will participate in various activities designed to promote career readiness, teamwork, and service. Events will include workshops, guest speakers, community service projects, and fun competitions that engage students in real-world business scenarios. We are thrilled to have the mayor support in recognizing the impact of FBLA, said Chapter President Brodie Kelly. This week is a great opportunity for our members to showcase their skills and inspire others to get involved. FBLA Week not only celebrates the achievements of current members but also encourages future business leaders to explore the opportunities the organization offers.
