Donated Meats to Upton Schools

Thank you Norris Family, Miller Family, Taft family & Bridger Pipeline for your donations of meats that were served in our school lunch program this year!  Your generous donations made the first year of our program a great success.

The district is currently accepting donated meats to be serviced in our school lunch program next year.

Please contact Angie Kokesh at 307-461-9331 or Roxie Taft at 307-461-2461 for information on our program.

UPTON FARM & RANCH TO THE SCHOOL PLATE PROJECT

Weston County SD #7 is seeking donations of beef, lamb and pork to enhance our school lunch and breakfast programs.

In addition to supporting our breakfast and lunch programs, this is designed to introduce school-aged children to local producers by consuming locally raised meats.

How it Works:

●Federal guidelines and the Wyoming Department of Education policy requires that meat for consumption through the school lunch program be processed at a USDA or state approved processor.

●Below is a list of approved facilities close to Upton (contact Roxie at 468-2461 for a complete list):

○Kompac Meat Processing in Mills

○Purcella’s Meat Processing in Buffalo

○Wyoming Ranch Foods, LLC in Torrington

The Process:

●Producers may donate beef, lamb or pork to the school.

●Please contact Angie Kokesh at the school if you are interested in donating at 468-9331.

●The producer must drop the animal off at the plant for processing.   Please let Angie know which processor so she can make arrangements for picking up the processed meat.

●Producers who donate the meat will be recognized on the school website, our hallway TV screens and on the high school marque.

Processing

●Beef and lamb will be made into burger and the pork will be made into sausage.
